What to expect from life in Puerto Escondido

Slow Down

Puerto Escondido is pure chill vibes. It's Yoga at sunrise. It's having a nap in a hammock after lunch. It's wandering down to the beach at sunset. It's life in sandals and a bikini. It's a world away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life back at home. If you want to take some time to decompress, reflect, and slow down, Puerto is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Indulge in the Food

Authentic Mexican cuisine. Yes please! This is not the Tex Mex you gorge on back home. This is fresh chillies, juicy limes, and fish caught that morning, wrapped in a taco that will make your taste buds explode. Tacos are a dollar each from the local restaurants! Oaxacan food (the region of Mexico PE is in) is particularly renowned in Mexico. Once you're bored of the freshest seafood tacos you've ever tasted, you should seek out the Oaxacan specialty dishes. They revolve around cheese and chocolate, what a dream!

Surf's Up

Surfers from all over the world flock Puerto Escondido for its waves. Playa Zicatella is one of the heaviest and most dangerous waves in the world, see for yourself. But fear not! Playa Carrizalillo is a super mellow left-hand point perfect for learning to surf.

Play with the Plankton

Manialtepec lagoon is one of the few places in the world where you can swim amongst bioluminescent plankton. This is a truly bizarre experience, like swimming in a glowstick, and has to be experienced to be believed.

Escape to the City

There may come a point where you crave the hustle and bustle of city life again. Fortunately for us, Mexico City is a short and cheap flight away, perfect for a long weekend. Mexico City is a modern metropolis with all the amenities that you would find in New York or LA, but for a fraction of the price, and with a Mexican twist! Bustling nightlife, Michelin star restaurants, and a young and ambitious energy, Mexico City is far from the city you were expecting.
